On May 5, 2015, I caught up with Dr. Paul Koudounaris at Saint Anthony's Relic Chapel in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Koudounaris is an author and photographer from Los Angeles. He holds a Ph.D. in Art History from UCLA and his publications in the field of charnel house and ossuary research have made him a well-known figure in the field of macabre art and art history. His books have been published by well-known Thames and Hudson of London, England.
It was a fascinating visit to talk with him about his research on the catacomb saints of Europe and his current research. I highly recommend his books which are not only visually stunning, but well researched and easily accessible to any reader. Visit his website to see his photographs and learn more about his work.
